While I specialize in low-income and homeless individuals, I can assist anyone experiencing a loss. I am also available to answer questions you may have about the process of managing a death and assist you with liaising with funeral homes, city agencies, and other services. I can help support you while experiencing grief and help you understand the processes. You are not alone. I will work to find all solutions for your unique needs at this time.
ASSISTING WITH THE NEXT STEPS
I work alongside a wide range of licensed funeral directors, some of whom accept life insurance policies and offer the lowest-cost arrangements available. I have extensive experience with burials, church and graveside services, city agencies, direct cremations, green funerals, fundraising/crowdfunding for funerals, hospitals, nursing homes, removals, and memorial services, including burial at sea, military honors, scattering remains, and air transportation of a decedent.
DEATH OF A STREET HOMELESS PERSON OR INDIVIDUAL LIVING IN A SHELTER
If your friend or loved one is unhoused and has passed away, I can assist with quickly navigating the need to provide a dignified final disposition and prevent their burial at Hart Island.
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANCE
I can assist with the preparation of paperwork for the Surrogate court (required to access bank accounts), completing applications and requirements from the Human Resources Administration (HRA) Office of Burial Services (OBS), and, through May 2025, applications for FEMA Covid-19 Funeral Assistance (reimbursement for a Covid-19 death paid for by you or someone in your family).
PRE-PLANNING FOR YOURSELF OR A LOVED ONE
For those looking to make their future arrangements or enact plans for home hospice patients, I can explain different types of arrangements, discuss local funeral home options, provide local estate lawyer referrals, explain different pre-plan options, costs, and whatever specific details you envision or require to make sure all final wishes are durable at the time of yours or your loved one’s passing.
OUT-OF-STATE/COUNTRY
I can assist if you’re experiencing the loss of a loved one while they are outside of New York City, need to coordinate with a funeral home in another state, if someone has passed in New York and requires an interment in another state, or if you need to transport a decedent or remains to another state or country.
REFERRALS
In addition to connecting you with the right funeral director to meet your needs, I can also provide referrals to services provided by lawyers and private forensic pathologists, as well as information about body donations for education and science, support systems for parents experiencing a loss, and community resources that might be available to you.
